What Have I Been Up To?

No, this isn't a big mess.  I was taking inventory.  You see, for the pasts several months, I have been making and gathering things for my upcoming grandbaby.

I made a warm chenille blanket and a tumbling block quilt.

Sturdy baby shoes for those first steps.

A baby caddy that is portable and filled with all sorts of lucious smelling baby products.

Tiny hangers for all those tiny clothes....

A soft book for quiet places and times.

A big kitty to support baby's back while sitting and to play with.

The start of a reading library to stimulate the mind and foster a love of reading.

For the first few months, we were all sure this baby was a boy.  Sonographers seemed to think it was a boy, but then they finally got a clear picture.  She's a little girl!  So we shifted gears from blue to pink and purple.

I have three other grand children and made them each cozy quilts.  This one is a chessboard.

This one is slashes of red, white, black, and gray for my grandson.

And a four patch for my granddaughter.  This was the first meander quilting I've done and I loved it.  It reminds me of Persian lamb.

On each quilt, they will find their names somewhere, stitched into the quilt.

We live two thousand miles away, so I don't see them often enough, so each quilt has a note tucked inside that tells them everytime they wrap up in their quilt, it is a hug from me.
Almost everything is wrapped and ready to mail.
As soon as that is done, there are more baby things I want to make:  a lavender and purple quilt, a few receiving blankets, and a couple of bibs, plus a few things I want to look for at the baby store.

My daughter in law has been as busy as I have making all sorts of things for this baby.  She's very creative and has done some beautiful things.

  1. Wow! You have been busy. Everything is all so well made, so beautiful, what a lucky little baby girl to have a grandma so very ready for her! Love in every stitch, I can tell!

  2. Yes, there is love in every stitch and I can't wait to hold her. Her daddy was so much fun and I hope she has a lot of that in her.
